The sessions felt safe and I was open to expressing without the need to find words for everything. During the art share, I felt safe and I must say even though other participants were present there was no feeling of judgment. The space was therefore welcoming and felt safe enough to allow for expression of one’s self. I was given the freedom to control how much or how little I wanted to share. I truly appreciate that.
Using the masks to create (2/5 sessions) helped me to connect with parts of myself and feelings that I had suppressed for a long time. It therefore became a great way to express grief and loss.
Initially, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the Art Therapy sessions, but it turned out to be a very healing experience. I would definitely recommend Art Therapy to anyone. However, I would highly recommend it to those who feel as if they don’t have many words to express themselves.
